FASHION
PEOPLE ASK ME ALL THE TIME, “WHY FASHION?”

Well it is kind of a long story, but here it is.  While attending Auburn University, I decided to study communication.  I thought I wanted to be a journalist or a sports broadcaster, which is what initially, drew me to the major.  Once I began though, I became so involved with the art of communication, and realized there are so many different levels to understand.  We focused on public speaking and the act of keeping an audience entertained.  I took a class where it was all about interpersonal communication, learning more specifically how to communicate face-to-face in relationships.  I took business communication courses, broadcasting courses, and public relations courses.  The list really goes on, but there was one class in particular that I feel helped shape who I am today.  That semester we had been studying communication in the workplace.  How to speak to your superiors, as well as those below you.  How to interact during the interview process and how to communicate electronically.  Then, the thing I remember most was how to communicate through your wardrobe.

Yep, you read that correctly.  Communication through your everyday attire.  Your wardrobe makes a statement about you.  It gives a first impression, but can also leave a lasting impression on those you meet.  It can be powerful, commanding the room.

Or it can be relaxed, exuding a carefree vibe.  The fun part about this though is that your wardrobe does not have to put you in to one particular box.  You can use it to show your many different sides, or interests.  You do not have to limit yourself to being sporty or athletic.  Change it up!  Use this outlet to show that you are both sporty and chic.  You are strong, yet compassionate.  You are classic, but also have an edgy side.  Let fashion be a way you communicate to those around you.  Let it express who you really are.

So with that being said, that is why I love fashion.  I love being able to express myself.  Sharing my heart through my outfit is exciting!  It can almost be challenging at times because I do not want to give the wrong message.  I want others around me to see that I am confident, and that I love the way I look.  I want you to see that I do not limit myself to one particular style.  The reality is I am all over the place.  There are days when I want everything to be clean and simple, but there are others when I want to have fun and be wild!  I can be girly, but my tomboy roots will always show back up.  I am compassionate and care about those around me, but I also want to command the room when needed.  This is what makes fashion so exciting to me.  This is why I do what I do.  And I wouldn’t change it for the world.
